Reader of the spotlight… Michelle Buckley

I had the pleasure of meeting the one and only Michelle Buckley, a few years ago. She is an amazing woman with a big and caring heart. Speaking to her one on one it felt like I’ve known her for years versus hours. Everyone who meets her says the same. She’s a ray of sunshine when she walks into a room. Women empowerment at its finest.

Michelle Buckley is a wife of 24 years. A mom of two daughters, ages 31 and 7. A grandmother of a wonderful 10 year old, little boy. She mostly reads interracial romance because it reflect her life somewhat. Her husband is caucasian and she’s African American. She started her journey to a healthier life about a year ago. She was taking care of everyone in her family except for herself. So, she started to finally put herself first. Reading books is her outlet from reality. When things get a little crazy she picks up my kindle and read.

  1. Outside of reading what do You like to do? Walking/Hiking trails.
  2. What is your all time favorite book? the Bible. However, outside of that my favorite is If Only We Knew by Ancelli

  4. Favorite book you’ve read last year? The Technicians Series by Olivia Gaines
  5. Favorite place to read? In my little reading corner of my bedroom
  6. What makes you love a book? The way it’s written. If I can visualize it like a movie while I’m reading, it’s got to be good.
  7. What will inspire you to recommend a book? It has to be written very well. If the writer can capture me within the first three chapters and can hold my attention to the point where I don’t want to put it down. I will recommend it to everyone.
  8. Favorite Genre? IR- BWWM, BWAM, BWHM
  9. Do you have a reading snack? Yes, it used to be chocolate chips cookies. Now since I’m eating healthier it’s grapes.
  10. How to you feel about giving a bad/negative review? I usually don’t give them to be honest. I just won’t read anything from them again. However I did reach out to an author once because she had nothing but bad reviews and suggested she get reach out to other authors to help her develop her skill. There was a good story there but she needed some help pulling it out properly. Plus I didn’t want to cash her dream.
  11. How many books do you read in a month? Well…… Since I don’t watch TV I would say around 6-10 books a month
  12. The longest you’ve gone without read? 30 days. I was on a spiritual fast so I put the books aside for that.
  13. What would cause you to stop reading a book halfway through? Grammar, bad editing or the story just isn’t good.
  14. If you could be any book Character in a book who would it be and why? You are going to think I’m crazy lol. I like strong but submissive type women. I will stand my ground but I will let you be the alpha that you are. So I like Mobsters. I like Trina Gabrini from Mallory Monroe Mob Boss Series and Xenia Donnellson from Tianna Leveen Saint Series.
  15. Who are you favorite authors? OH MY! I have a long list but I’ll give a few (if I leave some out please accept my apology). My list can go on and on.
  16. Have you considered writing a book? Why are you bothering me Ancelli lol??!! We will talk about it at another time. Short answer is yes.
  17. What makes you buy a book? The store brief must be written well to make me say “let me see what this is about”. Also the cover has to appeal to me.
  18. Name your most memorable character? It’s a tie between Saint (from the Saint Series-Tianna Leveen) and Mick(from the Sinatra Series-Mallory Monroe)
  19. If you could change places with a character for day, who would it be and why? It would Kanielle Richardson from Perfectly Mixed by Ancelli. Just to have someone take up for me. To care for me and to love me.
  20. What book made me angry? One that the author didn’t complete the series that was really good but the sales wasn’t there to continue.
  21. What book made you laugh? Any book by Olivia Gaines. I read Lobster Bisques and Berries by Olivia Gaines the day after I had surgery (wrong move lol). I laughed so hard from some of the characters I had to take pain meds and put the book down for a week. That is a good book.
  22. What book made you cry? Bantu Stephen Biko Bio by Donald Woods. Later it was made into the movie Cry Freedom
  23. What Makes a Character an Alpha? When he knows he’s an Alpha but man enough to take wise counsel.
  24. What would you like to see more in books? Older women falling in love. Around the ages of 40-55. We tend to forget that we are strong, sexy, intelligent, beautiful and wanted around this time. We like to dance and flirt with men too. We all don’t have grey hair and are living in wheelchairs. We still want to be held and have freaky kinky sex too.

Fiction Vs Nonfiction

Fiction is a term used to classify any story created by the imagination, rather than based strictly on history or fact.

Nonfiction prose writing that is based on facts, real events, and real people, such as biography or history.

My stories are fictional, which mean they aren’t 100% realistic. My stories deal with real issues, but they also have a touch of fantasy. So, if I want to write about rainbow unicorns, then I will. Why question me on how could you write about rainbow unicorn, they don’t exist?  I know they don’t exist, but in my stories they do (it’s fictional). My point is my stories are fictional they won’t always follow the realism of the world, they follow what’s in my head. I may have a blind person thats been blind from birth, suddenly open their eyes and can see. It’s my story. My truth may not be your truth. In the end it’s my imagination.

I write about real issues, because I’ve been, seen, heard of the topics I write about. When people say that doesn’t happen to someone who was rape? How would you know? Everyone reacts to situations differently. Again My truth may not be your truth.

This blog isn’t directed to anyone in particular. I was just sitting here reading reviews on my and other amazing authors books, and what I’ve seen complains about: That doesn’t happen in real life, that would never happened like that, why didn’t she do this or do that? It wouldn’t because it’s the authors imagination, and that’s what makes it wonderful. They have opened up their world for the readers to enjoy. You get to live in their imagination while you’re reading their books. Enjoy the ride…

Just my two sense. Have a blessed day…

March… Woman’s History Month. It’s time to celebrate another great reader. I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful, amazing lady at a reader-author event, we’d been talking and chatting for months before meeting. READER OF THE SPOTLIGHT

CRYSTAL

Our Reader of the Spotlight this week is the one and only… Crystal Moody. It was my pleasure, interviewing the beautiful woman. She’s a  full time student. Going to college was a perfect opportunity and Crystal took it. She got tired of working jobs, and went to college to earn a career. A couple of things people may not know about Crystal: She knows Latin (the dead language) and She love’s writing poetry and astrology.

  1. Outside of reading what do you like to do? Honestly, I like to watch trashy reality TV. It’s so addicting!!
  2. What is your all time favorite book? It’s so hard to choose so I’ll tell you what I like about a book. It has to be well-written. I like to feel the emotion of each character. The actual story has to be believable and by the end, it has to leave me wishing for more.
  3. What are you reading right now? I just finished SK Lessly’s Desired yesterday. Up next is LaQuette’s Heart Divided, sequel to Heart of the Matter. 4. Favorite book you’ve read last year? I have a top six but I’ll give my top two. The first is Flawed by Francette Phal. Totally loved that. My number two is called Just To Be Loved by Vivian Rose Lee. That book had me in tears but it was really good!

  12. The longest you’ve gone without reading? A week, almost two.
  13. What would cause you to stop reading a book halfway through? If it is horrible. The plot, the writing. I recently read a book that read so high school drama-ish. I had to stop. I was really upset because I had been waiting on pins and needles for that book to become available.

  15. If you could be a character in a book, who would it be and why? It would have to be Melanie from Forgiveness and Second Chances. I love her and that’s my favorite Ancelli book, by the way. I chose her because of her strength. I’ve always said that she had to be really strong to leave her daughter in Jeremy’s care. She survived through a lot of hurt. I admire her strength.

  18. What makes you buy a book? Blurb, and if there is a positive buzz going around about the book. But, of course, I have to read the sample if I’m hesitant. If that’s good, I’m getting it. But, if the book is by one of my favorite authors, after I read the blurb, it’s an automatic one click.
  19. Name your most memorable character? The three main characters from LaShawn Vasser’s The Stranger Next To Me. I was just telling someone about that book the other day, talking about the characters. I loved that book. That’s another book to check out if anyone hasn’t read it yet.
  20. If you could change places with a character for one day, who would it be and why? Don Giovanni Battaglia. I really don’t know why other than he’s the Don and he’s bad! I like that.
  21. What book made you laugh? It had to be one of Tiana Laveen’s Saint series. Saint was sitting in a restaurant, just cursing out his wife’s ex-boyfriend. I hooted with laughter!
  22. What book made you cry? I mentioned it before and it really did have me ugly crying. Just To Be Loved by Vivian Rose Lee. I recommended that book to a lot of people but warned them to have tissues on standby because when I say I cried…there was snot!
  23. What makes a character an Alpha? Just being bad and taking control of his woman. He should be able to stand up for his woman and take on any guy that tries to take his woman from him.
